Best Driver

Regardless of the arguments that my kids and my husband put up…I have the best driving record in the family. I am not bragging…I am just saying……..stating a fact! LOL…..I don’t like the feeling I get when pulled over by a cop so I decided a long time ago that was something in my control!

We go to a rather large church so traffic control is necessary with multiple services…allowing people in and out of the parking lot. When we leave church every Sunday, there is one officer that I always hope is directing traffic. She takes her whistle and her arms and she gets the job done with authority and confidence. Traffic always seems to move more smoothly when she is on the job! I have observed for many years now that she not only takes her job seriously, but she does it well and with major confidence.

As I watch her skillfully direct traffic….I picture my life with that kind of confidence…taking command and being bold, especially in taking the steps God has called me to do. In the spiritual realm, if you don’t believe you have Christ’s authority over your life and the kingdom of darkness, you are not likely to exercise it.

When you think about the disciples…they had Christ with them…..but we are IN Christ! Remember, Jesus died on the cross and rose on the third day and 40 days later sent His Holy Spirit. The minute we invite Jesus into our heart we have the Power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Ephesians 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places IN CHRIST, just as He chose us IN HIM before the creation of the world.” [emphasis mine]

Too many times, including myself here, we walk around like we don’t have that power. We are like a traffic control cop who has a whistle and an arm…but no confidence. We timidly blow the whistle ever so softly or not at all….barely forcing our arms out to direct the “traffic” of our lives. When we don’t act with the authority that we have been given, just like the timid traffic controller, we aren’t going to be very successful at directing “speeding cars” or “drivers” that have their own agendas. Our lives will bounce around…based on circumstances instead of walking in confidence in any circumstance.

I am not talking about become prideful and running ahead of God. I am talking about a humility that is great strength under great control. Humility is placing our confidence in Christ as Lord and then walking boldly IN HIM…with confidence that He will direct our paths. Jesus, when He walked the face of the earth, walked in great humility and great strength…deferring always to his Heavenly Father as the Source of timing, direction and guidance. With that He accomplished so much, with confidence and unwavering actions…not influenced by man.

That is how we should walk….humbly but boldly in Christ. Having full confidence in the scripture found in Revelation 21:6 , “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of water of life without cost. He who overcomes shall inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. ”

Taking control of our lives…is actually giving over control to a Holy God. It is then, and only then, that we receive:
the power,
the strength,
the confidence
to fulfill our created purpose.

Take your whistle, hold your arm out and allow God to tell you when to “blow” and when to “wave”. You will find the traffic flow of your life….will take on a supernatural flow!
