Giving Back

I love to invest. What I mean by this is that I love to turn around and help someone or an organization that has meant a great deal to me personally.

In the Front 9 of my life I can say with a passion that the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization was instrumental in opening doors for me to walk through. It provided me with opportunities to grow as a person and it challenged me. It provided scholarship money for college and was significant in providing me with strong relationships that I consider to be pure “gold” and for which there is no price tag.

The pageant taught me how to win and how to lose. It was very much a training ground used by God as a “boot camp” to prepare and inspire me to do many of the things I am currently called to do on the Back 9 of life, including speaking and writing. I will forever be grateful for the people along the way who have volunteered, given financially, and have encouraged young women like myself to chase our dreams.

With that being said, this week I will give my full attention and time to investing in the lives of young teenagers who have decided to “risk losing” in order to have gained a win! It is my full intent to encourage, love and inspire these young women to stretch and reach for the stars. To become all that God has created them to be and to “run their race!”

I ask that you would pray for each young lady competing for Miss Teen South Carolina and Miss South Carolina. It will be a privilege to judge and be involved in getting to know these talented and courageous young women. Praying for a week of opportunity to “give back!”

“Leaders..should influence others..in such a way that it builds people up, encourages and edifies them so they can duplicate this attitude in others.” ~Bob Goshen

Psalms 78:4, “…we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.”

No matter our calling, whether it is competing for Miss South Carolina Teen or some other endeavor, may we not forget that we each need to “run the race” well. I Corinthians 9:24-25, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”

Have a blessed week and thank you for your prayers! Hope to be back posting next week!
