I am not a hunter! To look into those pitiful eyes of a deer and then kill??? NOT me. I know it is deer season. First, because Thomas is a hunter. And second, because my neighbor has his “deer dummy” in the field in our back yard target practicing with his bow and arrow!! I call that a “REAL HUNTER!!!”
When I became a mother for the first time, our firstborn was a boy!! I always smile to myself because on the “Back 9” of life I so see that God has a sense of humor!!! I grew up with a sister and a father wishing he had a son!! With this being said, everything about having a “boy” was very new to me, always an adventure. From getting peed on in the face while changing a diaper and learning quickly to block it with a tissue while changing him, to having Brewer hop and leap everywhere he went, totally skipping the walking phase. After having a second boy, Thomas, and then a girl, it was fun to take them to a park and watch the unbelievable God-ordained differences in boys and girls. Literally watching Brewer and Thomas hop and leap while running to the swing set and watching Collins skip. (I didn’t teach them that. It was in them……) Just observing how they would move from point A to point B was soooooo VASTLY different!
Watching them come upon a bug or a caterpillar, the boys would stomp it to death, while Collins would cry her eyes out! If Collins got to the moving creature first, she would want to “love it” and take it for a pet. The boys, however, were on a mission to kill, conquer and destroy!!! It was obvious to me that Boys are born “hunters” and Girls are not!!!
When I first read John Eldridge’s book, “Wild at Heart,” I smiled to myself because he goes into detail about how God created men/boys to be hunters. It really helped me to biblically understand as a mother/wife how uniquely different God made males and females. (I highly recommend the book to women for an understanding of men!!!!) This book also helped me so much in raising our daughter, especially in the area of dating and when she became interested in the opposite sex. So, yes, this journal post……is a helpful hint to mothers and daughters about males!
It is a simple and very easy to understand concept and can be applied easily. I don’t care if it is the year 2013 or 2020……. The way God created men and women has not changed…so here is the helpful hint……. Men are born HUNTERS. They like to hunt……they like to chase……they like to pursue……Girls are not born hunters……. THEY SHOULD NOT CHASE, HUNT, OR PURSUE!!!! NO matter what the “world says is the thing to do,” plain and simple advice: Girls, let the boy hunt, chase and pursue YOU!!!! LET THEM DO WHAT THEY LOVE AND IS IN THEIR NATURE. There is something inbred in every Male that causes them to like the “CHASE”. Even though they may seem lazy, slow and uninterested, and you may need to develop patience,……DO NOT BECOME THE HUNTER……LEAVE THAT TO THE MEN!!!!!!
Girls, my advice to you IS GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO HUNT!!!! What I mean by that is this……Put yourself in the MINORITY……THE PRIZE TO BE WON CATEGORY. Every male has “MALE PRIDE” and sometimes that greatest strength can be their greatest weakness, never the less…just like a guy smears blood on his face after his “first kill,” and they stuff the head of a deer and hang it on a wall………They want their girl to be the “PRIZE THEY HAVE HUNTED AND CAUGHT!” Your action step is to put yourself into the 3% Category. Yes, I am talking about “PURITY, a VIRGIN!” If you are not a virgin, please DON’T STOP READING…. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED, I don’t think. There is GREAT HOPE and encouragement for you!!!
IF you ask any male and they are TOTALLY HONEST, TOTALLY ………THEY WOULD TELL YOU–IF THEY COULD CHOOSE, THEY WOULD CHOOSE TO MARRY A VIRGIN. A GIRL WHO IS PURE AND HASN’T SLEPT AROUND. Girls, guys want the “PRIZE OF ALL PRIZES”……”PURITY!!” Now let me just stop here……IF you are not pure……God is the great REDEEMER……. God is willing to forgive you……YOU can start RIGHT NOW…and have a “rebirth of a NEW YOU!” GOD can and will restore the years the “Locusts have eaten away!” He can make you clean. Give you a new identity in Christ. Yes, right where you find yourself right now!! It has to be a heart decision on your part to be PURE from now until marriage……
I want to address both the girls who have chosen purity and the ones who want to choose it RIGHT NOW…………. God is a God of love. HE CAN TAKE ANYTHING AND MAKE IT NEW……. HE can give back to you…………redeem. So, wherever this journal finds you in life……My prayer is for you to either be given GREAT ENCOURAGEMENT in your past choices or to GIVE YOU HOPE AND CONFIDENCE IN YOUR NEWLY MADE CHOICE………. I want you girls to understand God loves you…. HE DESIRES THE BEST FOR YOU. Let’s look at Scripture for encouragement.
In John 8:1-11 is the story of a woman caught in adultery. The Pharisees brought her before Jesus wanting to stone her to death. They were testing Jesus to see what He would do. I love what Jesus said, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” It later says in verse 9, “but when they heard it, they went away one by one…” They dropped their stones!!!!! Then Jesus said to her, “Woman where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She answered, “No one, LORD!” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go and from now on SIN NO MORE.” The part I want you to see, if you are reading this and have not chosen to be pure up until this point, you can repent….turn……. and DO IT NO MORE!! JESUS FORGIVES……HE wants you to turn…a 180 turn!!! YOU can and HE Will provide the power!!!!
1 Corinthians 12:31 says, “But earnestly desire higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way.” God will show you a better way…!!!!! And the Scripture that I love that commands purity involves the Word, Sanctification. Let me just define what that word means (I realize many young people don’t know exactly what that means). It means to be “set apart”. That is where I get the 3% category that I urge Girls and Guys ALIKE TO PUT THEMSELVES IN. Don’t get me wrong, God desires for everyone to be in this category. His intent is the 100% category for purity. But in the “sinful” age in which we live, it is more like the 3% category of people making this choice.
Here is the purity Scripture: (the 3% category which God designed and desires to be 100%) 1 Thessalonians 3:3-4, “For this is the will of God, your sanctification; That you ABSTAIN from sexual immorality that each ONE OF YOU KNOW HOW TO CONTROL HIS OWN BODY IN HOLINESS AND HONOR.” GOD created each one of us. HIS BEST FOR US is SEXUAL Purity!! I URGE YOU wherever you are……CHOOSE PURITY TODAY…. CHOOSE TO STAY IN THE 3% CATEGORY OR MOVE TO THAT CATEGORY…..IN GOD’S EYES THERE IS ROOM FOR ALL IN THE 3%!!!!!! AND on a side note……GIRLS the secret is to let the GUYS do what they do best…LET THEM BE THE HUNTERS!!!
