Moving Mountains Requires Faith

Faith is believing without seeing! Plain and simple……..at some point we just have to have “faith!” Every day when I sit down in a chair, I have faith that it is going to hold me. Before I sit down I don’t wonder, “Oh, is the chair going to break?” or “Is this chair going to move when I go to sit down!” No, I just sit. Jesus wants us to have faith like that! He wants us to “just sit,” having the FAITH that HE has us!

I realize people have all kinds of backgrounds and experiences that could hinder their ability to trust Jesus to lead their lives. On the Back 9, I have heard many accounts and reasons why people are unwilling to place their faith in Jesus. I am not able to account for all the things that happen in people’s lives. I cannot explain away the circumstances that have led to situations that people find themselves in. What I can do is share what I have lived and can personally testify to–what FAITH in Christ means to me and scripture that helps me live out loud that faith.

F- following Christ and reading His Word, the Bible.

Deuteronomy 5:32-33, “So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.”

Luke 9:23, “And he said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.'”

A- Allowing Christ to lead me instead of me leading myself.

Deuteronomy 1:21, “See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Psalm 43:3, “Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling!”

I- Inviting Him to do whatever He pleases in my life.

Matthew 26:39, “And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, ‘My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.’”

T-Trusting that He has me and my best interest at heart.

Hebrews 13:5-6, “…’Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?””

Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

H-Handing Him all things, not just certain things, but everything.

Proverbs 3:24, “When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”

Job 15:31, “Let him not deceive himself by trusting what is worthless, for he will get nothing in return.”

With faith we can “move mountains!” So many people misinterpret the scripture found in Matthew 17:20. When the disciples asked why they were not able to drive out the demons He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” You see, to move mountains, you have to be totally surrendered to God’s will and not your own and when you do this, you are able to move the mountains that HE plans for you to move, not the ones you want to move!

Psalm 37:4, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Living a surrendered life in Christ, having FAITH as described above, allows Christ to have free reign in our lives. It is then that we can witness and experience a greater working of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Faith the size of a mustard seed accomplishes much!
