Oh The Places You Go!

Oh the places you go and the people you meet!
For all who are enjoying the pictures and some of my posts as I find time and internet service to be able to post, I just have to say I am “loaded up” and ready to “fire” post with amazing stories of God’s hand…in provision, redemption, and grace in the lives of the strangers turned friends that I have met this week.
I have to write about Bear Rinehart with Needtobreathe. First, he is one of the kindest, most humble people I have ever met. A GREAT listener, polite, HIGHLY TALENTED singer and musician who happens to have grown up in my neck of the woods. He married a precious girl, Mary Reames, who Bill and I got to watch grow up in church in Columbia.
Today she is a wife, mother and a nurse practitioner. They have a little boy named Wilder. This is what I love most. Bear and Mary Reames each have unique gifts and a deep love for God. They have combined their hearts, spiritual gifts and talents and have helped build a medical clinic for the underprivileged in Uganda. They didn’t just help fund it; he and Mary Reames go and are hands on. Bear volunteers in the pharmacy while Mary Reames puts her degree to great use!
At dinner tonight Bear shared his vision to build another clinic in Nicaragua. As I sat and listened, I saw his “eyes glistening” with excitement over the plans to have a golf tournament to raise money for the next clinic. I love that he writes and sings songs about Jesus but I love even more that it is not just about his music. Bear is a guy on a mission that goes far beyond his music. He has a heart and a hand to extend to the poor.
I think the following verse describes Bear and his wife and the Band, Needtobreathe, very well. 1 John 3:17-18, “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him. Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with ACTIONS and in truth.”
Readers—FYI—they roll out their new album this July and start their tour. Two concerts are in SC but they are all over. Support this fabulous music group. WE all know their music is fabulous but SO ARE THEIR HEARTS FOR others, ESPECIALLY THE POOR AND SICK! I marvel now, seeing he has worked very hard on this new and upcoming album. But what you may not know is that he works just as hard on other things to help those that could never do for him in return…and to that I say AMEN from Jerusalem!:))))

  • Yes he is a blessing & an inspiration to the world! NEEDTOBREATHE is my best band of all time.
How I wish to see him in person (and talk to him) at least once before I close my eyes forever.
God bless him and God bless you. 🙂
