Snow Day

Snow Day!!!! I love snow. It is so rare to have snow in the South. When it does come, I just love to gaze out the window and watch it come down. I get up early before the peace is broken by footsteps and screams of laughter to just hear the “still quiet” that falls over the whole outside. It is a “quiet hush,” a softness that is soooooo amazing and tranquil. On the Front 9 a snow day looks very different than on the Back 9. LOL……

Front 9 snow day? Constant eating and making gallons of hot chocolate with whipped cream. Wet clothes everywhere and dryer running constantly. By afternoon arms, legs and feet are everywhere watching movies!!! At least 14 to 15 kids in the house and half spend the night!

On the Back 9? Fire going, hot apple cider in my cup, quiet house, and kitchen relatively closed…………lots of social media back and forth…(eternally grateful for social media). I at least get to watch my kids enjoy the snow from their various locations!!! Lots of reading and writing……and quiet……very quiet!!! I am learning to enjoy and be thankful and content in all situations but I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss….the Front 9 snow days!!!!:((( Hopefully one day I can repeat the cycle with grandkids!:))))

Sitting by the fire enjoying my wintry view just puts me in awe of God. It is the simple things like living and growing up experiencing the change of seasons: observing winter turn to spring, turn to summer, then turn to fall…..and repeat the cycle….all seasons have a magnificent beauty…Of course on the Back 9 I have learned to appreciate it more and have time to observe the beauty of God’s creation! Nature is what I like to call God’s picture book for man, much like the picture books we give to children who are not yet able to read. The pictures of nature can and do tell the same story the Bible tells us with words. Fallen man, a man/woman without Christ, is usually not looking for, or willing to see, the Power and Authority of God in nature.

I love the words to this old hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness…..

“Summer and winter, and spring-time and harvest,

Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,

Join with all nature in manifold witness

To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!”

Colossians 1:16 says, “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.”

A honest study of science has God’s fingerprints in every aspect!

Praising God for HIS LOVE AND FAITHFULNESS!
