Stepping Out of the Boat

God’s Word and people are like “Jet Fuel” to me!! After speaking twice on Wednesday, several people asked me if was I tired. It was around 9:30 that evening and I felt like I could go run a marathon!! I drove to see my parents and tried to go to bed, but I was wide awake and felt led to have a time of worship!! I think the most amazing thing about following Christ and being obedient is that He has more in store for you than you can wrap your mind around.

Allow me to explain. All people have a “STORY!” A story that is interesting, intriguing, and one worthy of listening to, if we only take the time to listen. When you are a speaker, you get to share your story. In return, you get to meet many new people and at least get to hear a little of their stories…………….amazing! Everyone who came to the events Wednesday walked away with 30 minutes of what God said through me and part of my story, but I got the benefit of meeting and hearing many stories!!!! So many that I couldn’t sleep. Stories of people who had survived……..some pretty sad things to miracle success stories……..I was on overload for sure…..but what an AWESOME OVERLOAD!!!

On Wednesday, in fact for the last year, God told me to “get out of the boat” and start walking………and my testimony today is that “YOU can walk on water!” The first key thing to remember is to keep your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of your faith. Second, it is not at all about what you do, but about what God can do through you. And third, the walking on water really does not have so much to do with what you do, but what you see Him do that is not even possible in your own efforts. Some people call it coincidence but I call it DIVINE APPOINTMENTS……. To anyone reading the journal…..I would say……if you are feeling led to do something, OBEY! ….Drop your hands and defer to God. Stand up…… step over the side of the boat you are in and start walking…….stop making excuses…….listen carefully………..keep your eyes on Jesus…….and just step out of the boat and start walking!!!

Matthew 14:26-33, “When the disciples saw him [Jesus] walking on the lake, they were terrified. ‘It’s a ghost,’ they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: ‘Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.’ ‘Lord, if it’s you,’ Peter replied, ‘tell me to come to you on the water.’ ‘Come,’ he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’ Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. ‘You of little faith,’ he said, ‘why did you doubt?’ And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, ‘Truly you are the Son of God.'”

Read this passage carefully and take note of a few things.

First: God told Peter to have COURAGE!

Second: He told him to COME.

Third: PETER OBEYED AND STEPPED OUT.

Fourth: The minute Peter diverted his attention away from God and onto the wind (what I call the environment or obstacle or his own ability), he began to sink.

Fifth: God called out his DOUBT…..the reason for sinking! Doubt is normal but don’t let it stop you!

Sixth: Immediately Jesus REACHED OUT FOR him and CAUGHT him!!!! KEY, VERY KEY!!!!!!!

Seventh: Jesus showed up and climbed in with Peter.

Eighth: Jesus revealed Himself…..He showed up! And they WORSHIPED.

IF GOD CALLS YOU TO DO SOMETHING, IT REQUIRES ACTION….WHICH CAN BRING DOUBT, BUT THAT IS OKAY. KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS….THE END RESULT WILL BE WORSHIP!
