Alert

This past Friday night as our family was enjoying a celebration dinner for Mike…I sat there thinking…this is great. I was so enjoying the fun and laughter as we celebrated Collins’ boyfriend’s recent win in professional golf. I found myself thinking, “So far so good!”

You see, the next day I was traveling to speak at a women’s event out of town. Since I have been back actively speaking for just over a year now….there has been a pattern of “spiritual warfare” that surrounds me going. I have been blindsided with different things. Some I choose not to write about except in my journal that my kids can read one day after I am gone. Friday night I was lost in my thoughts asking the Lord for “travel protection” for the next day and also relieved that life was not just smooth but there were some things to celebrate.

On the way home, I let everyone know that I would be disappearing from the fun to study and pray and head to bed early–my normal routine the day before I speak–and that is exactly what I did. Around 3:30 a.m. an odd thing happened. I woke up and actually thought I was sick. I was sweating and felt sick. I got up and went into the bathroom. It was then that I realized our air conditioner was broken. It had to be 90 degrees in our bedroom.

Coincidence? NOT. I decided to get up and go to another part of the house to read. Funny thing, the air conditioner was just off in our bedroom. All other rooms in the house were cool. Our thermostat in the bedroom was blank…no reading.

You can think what you want but I just want you to know…Satan is real and so is spiritual warfare. Since I have answered God’s call to write and speak, we have had the ceiling to cave in on our family room, our basement has flooded twice and the list goes on and on. Odd stuff at specific times. I have learned to expect there to be opposition…scripture is clear about roadblocks and distractions, all warfare, but scripture is also clear in how to handle the opposition.

I want to make the point that the timing of the events is what is specific. Roadblocks and distractions are what I call them. Everyone has problems in their home but it is the timing of things that has made this different.

I do not fear. I have learned to pray…to put on the full armor of God and march ahead…even though lately it has been more difficult. The day I spoke, other than sweating while I was getting ready that morning, went great but……….

As I was leaving the event to head home I pulled out my cell phone to see several missed calls from Collins. I pressed send and called her back. When she answered she was upset and her voice was shaky. She had answered a call from Arizona. She has been job interviewing so she answered the unknown number thinking it could be about the job. Thankfully Mike was with her because the caller was a male, a foreigner, who made a “very brutal threat!” Thankfully Mike took over but the words and threat of brutality had already been made.

I learned that Thomas had been called as well. They think it was from the same caller. Both calls came from Arizona! As I drove home I called a friend to have her pray over my family. You see, this was not the first time…threats have been made. The last time it was me…but when the threats move to your kids…do I have to say more?

Point of post…I would like to ask you Back 9’ers to do several things.

Scripture teaches in Romans 12:21, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” And Ephesians 6:13 tells us, “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

So I am asking you to:

1. Pray for me and my family. Pray for protection and for God to expand His word….through me…..either by the blog, my books or speaking or all three. As Adrian Despres has said, “When Satan deals you a blow…then go share Christ…that punches satan in the mouth.” As evil lurks…my mission is to do even more to share Christ and your help of sharing the blog and my book will immediately punch Satan. I am more determined than ever.

2. Consciously do good every day. Share the gospel. Do not sit down nor shrink back, but actively share the LOVE of Christ.

This post is certainly not to gain your sympathy nor fame. It is Christ that I seek to receive the glory. I want to GAIN STRENGTH from your Prayer… for you lovers of Christ and the readers and sharers of the Back 9 …to lock arms…and not wear a cross but carry one.

I want to thank you in advance for joining me in the Great Commission….Matthew 28:16-20, “Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
