I wish I had loved science more growing up. Today, it fascinates me, especially the strides science has made in the study of DNA. Today, science and Mitochondrial DNA both point to all life coming from one man and one woman! LOL… Adam and Eve. Strides in science continue to validate scripture!
The enemy loves to sway us into thinking we are insignificant. I can just say…… The older I get and the more I study and read scripture, the more I realize how significant every human is to God. God is a specific God.
What I love about DNA the most is the fact that all humans have a SPECIFIC DNA unique to them! Out of the billions of people on earth no one has your DNA nor mine but the study of DNA is linking us all together. LOVE IT. Scripture teaches that God knew us before we were in the womb. “Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them,” (Psalm 139:16). HE KNEW US BEFORE. Then Ephesians 2:10 teaches us that “…we are God’s handiwork created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in ADVANCE for us to do” [emphasis mine].
Peeps….we are all singled out and SIGNIFICANT TO GOD. His ordained fingerprint through our unique DNA, shines a spotlight on us…it separates from all others.
When you study the life of Saul/Paul in scripture you see that Saul was a brutal man who was persecuting Christians. He was abusing them, killing them and imprisoning them. God met him on the road to Damascus. When Paul tells of his conversion story found in Acts chapter 22, he notes that he and his companions saw the “light,” Jesus, but Saul/Paul was the ONLY ONE blinded by the light.
Paul also shares in Acts 22:9, “My companions saw the light, but they did not understand the voice of him who was SPEAKING TO ME,” [emphasis mine]. When you study scripture, it is clear that God speaks to us individually. His desire is for us to hear His voice, surrender, obey and trust. Saul/Paul was blinded by God to get his full attention.
We have the “helicopter” view here and we see that Saul’s blindness was temporary. It was out of God’s great love for Saul that he caused “blindness” to draw Saul to Himself. As you study Saul/Paul’s life you find God had great significance for Paul’s life! God redeemed him and gave him a life on purpose and a legacy.
God has the same significance for me and for you. We are no different in our “specialness” to God. His fingerprint on our lives is our uniqueness. His desire is to speak to us individually and specifically so that we can fulfill our created purposes. Your past doesn’t define your future. Adversity…difficult times are often used by God to “open our eyes” to His voice and turn us to His path.
God is a patient God full of mercy and grace…seeking our attention and our surrendered lives..… HE is faithful. He will show you, guide you and direct you. Acts 22:11, “My companions led me by the hand into Damascus, because the brilliance of the light had blinded me.” Just as God provided companions to guide Saul/Paul when he was blinded, God will provide you with the right guidance.
Seek to hear His voice that is specific to you. He has a legacy for you to leave behind through His plan….not the “world’s” plan. Don’t drift……
“The will of God is not something you add to your life. It’s a course you choose. You either line yourself up with the Son of God…or you capitulate to the principle which governs the rest of the world.” ~Elisabeth Elliot
