Bad Hair Day

Bad hair days are the worst!

I seem to have more than my fair share;( It is so hard for me to get the back of my hair just right…and as for the front…sometimes…I just have to say, “Oh well!” and walk out the door. It’s a great day when I get to go to the salon and not only get a wash and a blow dry, but I get color!! I don’t like roots…LOL!

I now truly believe, and can give testimony, that hairdressers have a “special gift” when it comes to cutting and styling people’s hair. I have noted whenever I have been to my hairdresser, Paige, that I spend the rest of the day getting compliments on my hair wherever I go. Seriously, every time I leave her shop, I get compliments. On the other hand, when I do my own hair, I rarely, if ever, get a compliment……….:o)

Needless to say, I sometimes squirrel my money away and see her just for a wash and blow dry when I am going to some place special. My friends and children have even figured out the difference when I do my hair and when Paige does it. When I walk in the door at home they will say, “You have been to see Paige haven’t you?!” Or, if I am meeting a friend for lunch they say, “Your hair looks great. Have you been to Paige?” And of course the answer is “yes” or I wouldn’t have received the compliment!

I love the verse found in Acts 4:13, “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they TOOK NOTE that these men had been with Jesus” [emphasis mine]. I have thought about this verse so much and have committed it to memory. You see, just like people can tell I have been to see Paige and they take NOTE of my hair, I/You/we have the same ability that John and Peter had.

We can BE WITH JESUS….
…and when we have been…
….People can tell….

It will give us courage…and people will TAKE NOTE. Wouldn’t it be cool if we were to designate the time to sit in the presence of Jesus…and then see other people be ASTONISHED? We can be ordinary….and unschooled…and it doesn’t matter. It is “Jesus” that can make all the difference in WHAT OTHERS SEE in US!

I like how Moses is described in Exodus 34 after he had gone up to the mountain to hear God. Scriptures says he was “radiant”. He didn’t even realize it at first. It shined so that he had to wear a veil.

“When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord,” (Exodus 34:33-35).

Point of post…it doesn’t cost us anything but a choice…to put Jesus first…to choose to sit in His presence.

There is much to gain. WOW! Just think. We can have the “Shock” factor in the best way possible. Don’t we, as Christians, want others to be able to “TELL we have been with Jesus” because they SEE HIM in our lives? To make them “want what we’ve got”?

I encourage you today…whether it is a bad hair day or not…the real difference is not in my/your/our looks. What counts the most…is whether or not we REFLECT that we have been with Jesus.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”

“The time you spend alone with God will transform your character and increase your devotion. Then your integrity and godly behavior in an unbelieving world will make others long to know the Lord.” ~Charles Stanley
