While in Jerusalem we have studied about Jesus being an innocent man and falsely accused. Pilate even said, “Look I am bringing him out to let you know that I find NO basis for a charge against him” (John19:4). It didn’t matter. The chief priests and their officials shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”
How does that relate to me and to you? If Jesus endured false accusations, and He was fully man and fully God (the perfect Lamb), then you better believe we will! So don’t be surprised!
We may not be crucified to a cross, but our hearts can be crucified by mean-spirited people, by rumors, and by false accusations. Our comfort comes from God, the one who knows our hearts and the hearts of others. Our job is to put our eyes on “Jesus,” trusting Him when the insults come. We can only see the surface, but we can trust Jesus is working “underneath.”
2 Peter 5:5, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” If you are walking the path of a painful time and you feel as if someone or some people are yelling or whispering “crucify,” remember, remain “humble.” His word is clear in James 4:10, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” Remember, it is an “empty tomb” now!
Jesus will lift you up. Rest in Him. ❤
