Seeking Clarity

I have had 20/20 vision the entire Front 9 of life…..and suddenly, as I made the “turn” at age 45, I needed readers. Funny how one day I was at lunch and I could read the menu and the next day I could not. I am sure it was gradual….I am thinking my level of frustration hit an all-time high the day I drove straight to the store to buy the “coolest” pair of readers I could find. Today…they go with me everywhere…I am not with out them. I even think I may need glasses for “distance” now. LOL!

The focus and clarity my readers brought the first time I put them on was so refreshing. I didn’t have to strain to see. It was like my eyes could zip across any page with ease and read everything CLEARLY. This is the best analogy I can give regarding a “growing and thriving” relationship with Christ. The one thing I can promise anyone…is that if you seek God, you will find HIM. As I have grown in my walk with Christ and devoted time to “sit still” and know that He is God, an amazing thing has happened…I have had CLARITY and CLEAR DIRECTION on a daily basis for my life. I love the simple but powerful verse found in I Corinthians 14:33, “For God is not the author of confusion…”

I can assure you, God doesn’t make you guess or play hide and seek. I was given great advice several years ago that I would like to share with you. I was seeking answers from God on several important areas in my life and needed clarity. Each day I would sit and pray…not getting anything really. This went on for several weeks and the “great advice” was simply…keep asking, even if it takes a long time. Don’t pull any trigger until you hear from Him. In my seeking, waiting, and hearing from God I learned some things I would like to share in hopes that it will encourage you as you seek Him for clarity on things in your life.

1. James 1:5 states, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” God will give you wisdom. At times I discovered the answer didn’t come quickly because God was causing me to wait. His timing is perfect and in the meantime I was growing from seeking and reading His word.

2. Looking back I now see that while I was waiting for the answer and wisdom, I was gaining wisdom all the time by reading His word. I was also developing “Patience” which is a fruit of the spirit. Today I can honestly say….one of the answers I was seeking took many months and from “earnestly seeking Him” and His solution….I became a more patient person… and, as I reflect on it now, I am eternally grateful. I can actually see the “fruit of patience in my life”. Trust me, the one thing I have learned is that patience is a fruit which always needs to be produced in my life…ongoing for sure.

3. When I did receive answers and took the steps of faith…..only in looking back can I see that it was God’s perfect timing and HE did give generously.

The simple point of this post? God will give generously. It may require an ongoing seeking from you. It may require you to take steps that don’t make human sense…like waiting….but if you continually seek….HE WILL GIVE GENEROUSLY…IN HIS TIME…WHICH IS PERFECT FOR YOU!

Proverbs 2:6-7, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity.”
